El Capitan Lemery, Batangas

El Capitan is actually a beach resort overlooking Ligpo Island. I say overlooking because the island is really a stone's throw away from the beach, It can't be more than 200 meters away in fact. El Capitan is a dive beach in every meaning of the word. There is no beach to speak off, a few steps down the breaker and you're met with a thick jungle of corals and sealife. The narrow channel between the beach and Ligpo is actually about 50 feet at its deepest and is pleasantly calm most of the time. Be careful just as well as there are times of the day when the currents shift and it turns into a river that can drag you out to sea. Visitors can hike around Barangay Balite or do a bit of rock climbing on the crubly granite walls surrounding the area. If you're the spender-type of person you can hire a boat to take you to the "bat caves" and to Anilao as well.

El Capitan is in Balite, Batangas. The Barangay is a little bit out of the way and finding it can be a little tricky. You can ride a bus from Manila to Lemery and then transfer to a jeepney or tricycle to Balite. from Balite, you can hitch a ride with the resort boat if you're staying at the resort. If not, hike along the coastline until you see the resort pavillion. You could also climb over the small hill and scout for a campsite there, just ask for permission from the Barangay before you do. It is advisable to camp near or within the resort for security reasons.
