Hugom San Juan, Batangas

Hugom is the town at the end of the road from San Juan, Batangas. Hugom is also home to the endangered "tectona philippinensis" or the philippine teak. There have been numerous attempts to propagate the specie in recent years but have been met with limited success. Hugom is likewise home to a long stretch of fine, brown sand beach. The coastline is also home to nesting sea turtles (Pawikan) as well as many other interesting sea animals such as the stingray. Visitors tot he area can opt to climb Mt. Dagoldol or hike around the surrounding areas, just be wary of the Philippine Cobra lurking in the mangroves. Barangay Pulang-Bato curiously has a hot spring but you'll need to hike some distance to get there. Mountain bikes would be convenient in this place.

Hugom can be reached via Lipa City in Batangas. You can buy last minute supplies at the newly opened Robinson's Mall or at the Big Ben Commercial Center (they have a 7-11). From Lipa take a tricycle to the nearest jeepney terminal for transport to the town of San Juan. Drop by the Municipal Hall before proceeding to Hugom Aplaya. keep in mind, there is a limited number of jeeps that go to Hugom but you can always hitch-hike your way there if it comes down to it.
