Mt Malipuño Talisay - Lipa, Batangas

Mt. Malipuño is the most recent addition to our "Preferential Peak List"! We climbed it just recently after ignoring it for so long, and happily discovered not only an interesting mountain but an entire range it belonged to as well. Mt. Malipuño cannot be classified as a "recreational camping area" because of its lack of facilities and other diversions. The view from the peak is actually a bit "average" compared to the other mountains in this list; but if youre looking for a romp through the back country and be home in time for dinner, then Mt. Malipuño is for you! You can also opt to visit the other peaks in the area - Manabu, and the curiously named "Bundok ng Susong Dalaga". Mt. Malipuño is about 1.015 feet in elevation asl.

The easiest way to find Talisay, Silangan is to ride a bus to Lipa, Batangas (80 pesos), then get off at the Fiesta Mall just before the city proper (if you see Kenny Rogers' Roasters on your right, you've overshot the stop). Ride or hire a tricycle to Marawoy, get off at the Floral Garden Memorial Park then transfer to another tricycle bound for Talisay, Silangan. Alternatively, you can get off at the Lipa City bus station and hire a jeepney to take you directly there. When you get to Talisay, head for the trailhead along the stream, at the end of the steep downhill concrete road. If you need a guide, you can look for Aries Regachuelo (Purok 7-b), he'll gladly accompany you to the summit for about 300 pesos (he can spot snakes and critters from a mile away!). If you bring your own vehicle, pay one of the local kids to stand watch; just to keep the carabaos from using your car as a back scratcher. NOTE : refrain from picking fruits off trees randomly! Ask first, the locals will gladly give you some of their produce.
