TRAGEDY ON THE SUPERFERRY 14

Summer 2004 couldn't have started with a worse opening number, with Superferry 14 burning down! The luxury passenger ship was dubbed as the "Festival Ship" because of all the great get-away amenities on-board. As fate would have it, we weren't able to set one foot aboard the hyped-up ship and now its smoldering off the coast of Bataan! The WG&A crew appeared to have acted swiftly and professionally enough to have saved most of the passengers, but a hundred or so of those on-board at the time of the accident remain missing. Things like this sometimes happen for no reason but we hope ship operators and the government can improve the quality of passenger service in the country. Hopefully, better safeguards and quality control will be in place in the NEAR future to ensure that something like this does not happen again.

Our prayers go out to those who lost someone in this very unfortunate accident.
